Radiographic film digitizers are such a low-profile piece of equipment that most digitizer manufacturers do not even sell them directly to end users. They are more commonly bundled as part of a picture archiving and communications system (PACS) vendor package or sold through the company that provides the software and hardware that the digitizer must have in order to transmit an electronic image. A digitizer without its front-end application is like a printer without a computer. It just sits there and nothing happens.
By digitally archiving old film, you can recover valuable storage space within your medical facility.
By using the DICOM Modality Work list feature, you can automatically transfer patient demographic information from a HIS/RIS system to the digitizer. This eliminates the need to re-enter data, avoids time-consuming data entry errors and improves overall productivity.
VIDAR SIERRA Plus
The award-winning SIERRA Plus film digitizer, designed for low-volume radiology applications, represents a significant advance in film digitizer technology. It overcomes some of the most common barriers to digitizer use -- quality, cost and size. The ACR-compliant SIERRA Plus is the lowest cost digitizer for remote primary diagnosis. The SIERRA Plus also is the first film digitizer small enough to be easily wall-mounted, solving siting problems commonly found at hospitals and radiology offices. It features VIDAR's next-generation proprietary High Definition CCD (HD-CCD) technology. Its unique ADC™ (Automatic Digitizer Calibration) feature results in virtually no variation in image quality and ensures excellent grayscale reproduction in every image.
Customer Benefits
- Virtually maintenance free
- Solves quality, cost and size barriers to film digitizer use

Clinical Expresss 3.0
Clinical Express 3.0 allows prior film-based studies to be digitized and then reviewed alongside new studies on digital mammography workstations. Clinical Express 3.0 will increase efficiency and radiologists' productivity by providing a high-quality digitized image of prior studies, eliminating the need to compare new digital images on a workstation with the prior film-based studies on a light box.
Clinical Express 3.0 will play a key role in busy radiology departments as adoption of digital mammography rapidly increases, especially in light of the recent Digital Mammographic Imaging Screening Trial (DMIST) that found that digital mammography is more sensitive in some women.
